About NCIASP 2026

Social Psychiatry in an Increasingly Conflicted and Intolerant World

The 33rd National Conference of the Indian Association for Social Psychiatry will be hosted by the Department of Psychiatry, King George Medical University, Lucknow, from 29th–31st January 2027.

The conference aims to revisit social psychiatry and mental health within broader social, cultural, economic and political contexts.

The theme of this year's conference, "Social Psychiatry in an Increasingly Conflicted and Intolerant World," is both timely and profoundly relevant. Across the globe, societies are witnessing growing polarization, violence, displacement, social inequities, digital transformations, and unprecedented psychosocial challenges. These developments compel us to revisit the foundational principles of social psychiatry and reaffirm our commitment to understanding mental health within its broader social, cultural, economic, and political contexts.

NCIASP 2026 aims to provide an enriching scientific platform where clinicians, researchers, educators, policymakers, psychologists, psychiatric social workers, and mental health professionals can engage in meaningful dialogue, share cutting-edge research, and deliberate on innovative, evidence-based approaches to addressing contemporary mental health challenges. We are confident that the scientific deliberations will stimulate new ideas, foster collaborations, and strengthen our collective efforts towards promoting socially responsive and equitable mental healthcare.

We congratulate the Organizing Committee for undertaking the responsibility of hosting this prestigious national conference. We are certain that, alongside an outstanding scientific programme, the delegates will experience the warmth, hospitality, and rich cultural heritage of the historic city of Lucknow.
